The design plans required demolition and removal of about 2/3 of the hockey rink. The remaining 1/3 was going to be incorporated into the new athletic center. We created a second floor in the existing structure. On three sides of the existing building, we created an addition, which allowed for the entrances, the staircases and access while tying together the existing hockey rink and physical education building that was adjacent to the project. It has state of the art facilities including two collegiate basketball floors with movable dividing partitions, training rooms, workout rooms, hydrotherapy tubs, separate locker rooms for about four to five sports and administrative offices from the athletic director to the coaches. We put new windows, a new floor and a penthouse on top of the hockey rink and connected to it on almost all four sides.
