Amtrak ADA Stations Program – Essex Junction, VT

Essex Junction, VT

The Essex Junction Amtrak station project ensures ADA compliance through comprehensive demolition and construction efforts. The demolition phase includes removing the existing ramp, asphalt platform, retaining wall, and railings, with site preparation featuring temporary accessible pathways, signage, and fencing. Excavation accommodates new drainage and sign footings while protecting trees, utilities, and structures with salvaged materials like railings repurposed.

Construction involves installing a 444-foot ADA-compliant reinforced concrete platform with a helical pile foundation and detectable warning surfaces. Additional upgrades include storm drainage, trench drains, platform lighting, a red concrete pad for the relocated WCLE, and ADA-compliant sidewalks with curbs and warning systems. Other improvements include new Amtrak signage foundations, galvanized painted guardrails, and a hollow metal door. The project concludes with landscaping restoration and tree planting, delivering a fully accessible, modernized station environment.
